The Fender American Vintage II series draws inspiration—not just visually—from the historic designs that shaped music history. We have also precisely reproduced many period-correct details: bodies, necks, and hardware; premium finishes; and pickups carefully voiced to match the tone of the original model year. Thanks to traditional Fender craftsmanship, every instrument embodies the authentic character and sound of the original model.
The late 1950s and early 1960s were pivotal for the evolution of the Precision Bass. Many new features were introduced that are now synonymous with the P-Bass. By 1960, little remained of the original Telecaster-style design; the instrument now featured a Strat-style headstock, ergonomic contours, pickguard-mounted electronics, and a four-saddle bridge. The 1960 Precision Bass represents this exact era. Its refined, timeless aesthetic is capped off by a 3-Color Sunburst finish and a four-ply tortoiseshell pickguard. The American Vintage II 1960 Precision Bass features a premium alder body, a Pure Vintage '60 split-coil P-Bass pickup, and a solid Hard Rock maple neck with a "C" profile and a 7.25" radius slab rosewood fingerboard. This allows the growling rebel to play—and sound—just like its famous ancestor.
The American Vintage II series brings classic Fender models back in their original form. It is ideal for musicians who love our vintage tone and playing feel and appreciate top-tier quality—down to the very last screw. Fender American Vintage II. The stuff legends are made of.
