Sheldon Dingwall has been crafting instruments in Saskatoon, Canada, since the late 1980s. After initially producing custom necks and bodies for musicians in local bands, he introduced his first original bass model—the Voodoo Bass—in 1993.
The goal is simple: Dingwall wants the hairs on the back of your neck to stand on end every time you play one of their instruments! For their team of craftsmen, instrument building is the most fascinating and fulfilling experience imaginable. It represents the intersection between the technical world of physics and engineering, and the emotional world of the soul and passion. Instruments created centuries ago are still cherished today and passed down from generation to generation. Dingwall believes that their instruments will share this same legacy. For this reason, every instrument is crafted with passion and reverence.
Fanned frets make the difference! Dingwall basses are synonymous with superb tone, definition, and the "Best B-string in the business!" Bassists who bring a Dingwall into the studio or onto the stage receive nothing but praise from sound engineers. Why? Because of the fanned-fret system! It all revolves around the magnificent fundamental tone that this system produces: consistent tension from string to string, powerful fundamentals free of unwanted overtones, and absolutely no floppy B-string! Just like on a grand piano... the low strings are longer, and the high strings are shorter! This creates the precise tension and length required for each individual note to ring out with true authenticity. Specifications:
